The idea for this show began with my recollection of garba griha, which is translated as "Womb Chamber," or sometimes, "Sacred Womb." It refers to the cave-like inner sanctum of a Hindu temple, a place approached with great ritual and mental and spiritual preparation. It is a place, and an idea, which has always appealed to me. The past year has presented me with numerous difficult choices, and it became imperative that I locate (or create) such a sacred space.

As paintings were realized, they pointed to a simple truth: the search for enlightenment, for wisdom, for fulfillment, ended where it began: within myself.
